I can get a crf cam out of a 06 bike Does anybody know how they perform in a 05 trx? Is it like a hrc cam? I would think it is a top end cam. I have a stg 2 HC in my 06 and I really like it but I can get this other one for about nothin. I got a 04 just because I got a good deal on it. After ridin the 06 the 04 feels like a turd, I really need to open it up. If anyone can help thanks.

to answer the original question, HRC cams are CRF cams,

i believe the 06/07 HRC kits use a 2005 CRF cam

the guy who does my motors reccomended i run a 2005 CRF cam in my 2005 TRX motor

i do not know the differences between 05 and 06 CRF cams, and i do not know why rage recommended an 06 CRF cam, but i am sure manshack has his reasons

the 04-06 crf cams are the same. the 06-07 hrc kit uses the 04-06 crf cam. dont know much about the actual 04-05 hrc cam but i have heard of alot of people starting to use the 04-06 crf cams in all year trx's.

I believe the term "better" is thrown around too loosely with cams. What makes one "better" than another? They all make more power, and they all do it in different areas.

I agree, plus you have to take into consideration what other mods you have and where you want the power!

Some motors respond to certain cams better than others!

Just my honest 2 pesos! Unejumacated opinyon also! :p

i second the 02 crf cam----- in my 06 with my 13 to 1,, port polish valve job , uni and a white brothers cp 2 it has a hard hit mid and up to me--- ( i am thinking of switching to a sparks pipe in search of a lil more low end though??? any thoughts???)

The term HRC cam doesn't apply to just one cam. The 04/05 trx HRC kit had a very different HRC cam than the 06/07s. It was more like the HotCam Stage 3, but with less bottom power.

I have not seen any dyno runs of the 06/07 HRC cam (as was said it's the same as the 04-06 crf cam) running in the 04/05 trx motor. Typically, the earlier motor likes a bigger cam than the 06/07 trx motor. I am sure it will work and with some added compression, it would make a good mx cam (I would assume).

If you're just looking for something better than stock and can get that cam cheap, then do it. Tell us what you think and compare it to your 06...
