Just wondering if any of you are polished alum. lovers like me. Its hard to keep maintained, but man it looks good when shined up good. Post pics of your peices..... Peices of polished aluminum that is :)

Here are a couple of mine. Not bad for a stock 89 swingarm

Yes, I to love polished parts. I mean its not the same as chrome but....almost, lol. Im thinking about doin the sidecases on my R but Im not sure, I mean throttle covers and brake resivores are one thing but im not sure about my side case. Howd you go about doin yours?

I'm not sure how long it took really, but I know I polished on it for about an hour yesterday. Mothers Mag Aluminum polish ROCKS.

This is my 300Ex engine. I swapped engines from my 350X trike. it has this 300Ex engine on it. here is a pic of the engine after gettin it done.

Just curious Chris, but why didn't you do the cylinder on the R too?

ok....i got my buffin wheels...and some compounds...now tell me why smoke was comin off the buffin wheel:eek: :devil

the cylinders are as you know a rough cast and i havent wanted to take the time to smooth it all out yet.........;)

Hey Chris, do the cylinder!!! They aren't that hard. U use Eastwoods, right? Get the small sanding cones ( the ones sold to do manifolds and small areas ) I did my friends cylinder in about 40 hrs or so. He was REAL happy. This pic is kinda crappy, but trust me, the cylinder is super looking, even up close.

yeah i use the eastwoods,,,,,,and i have all the sanding rolls,,,,,,,,but i have a lack of motivation i guess:o

Can you tell me the setps on how to do it and what I need. I would like to do this.. I got the polish and is a buffer like a fluffy wheel and have same baking soda ready to go and just polish up like that? I dont know can you please tell me how to do it and the steps to do it..

Do a seach for polish. There are tons of post that have steps on how to do it.

thanks, well I sand everything down by hand but I have a die grinder run off a compressor to polish it w/ compounds from eastwood

Powdercoating is fairly simple. Strip the piece, spray it, and bake it. It's a little more complicated than that, but it's nothing that requires a specail skill. Yes, I will admit that Kenny does have a talent at it and he and Chris Water's work is by far the best I've seen.

My poor, poor 250R is getting torn into again tomorrow. Time for some new bearings and a little more polishing work. I have neglected it long enough..

In my opnion,,,,,,,and its what i used on the 350X you now own;) ,,,,,,is heavy metal polish.
