part 1) that was a funny looking *** dude.

part 2) his voice was like straight up southern drunk dude.

part 3) four strokes dont have powerbands haha.

part 4) this reminds me, mines wore out. im going to rockymountain right now for a new one.

I think i need a new powerband...anyone know which one stops knocking? :(

Sad part is, im serious about the knocking...check out my thread in the powertrain section...

Every engine produces a powerband ;)

Why don't people understand that?

a powerband isnt a noun, its the way to describe how power is delivered. thats how i see it. and four strokes do not hit at all. its very very smooth. i consider a powerband to yank your arms up and you can feel it kick in.

help me baby jesus! i just wanna smack the ever loving crap outta that dude. the "powerband" is when the engine makes the most power. am i right?

Depends on the color, red usually is when it makes the least...

your motor must not have much power then....:o

a powerband is when a motor make the most HP for the RPMs....a 4 stroke COULD have a powerband but people usually say they dont because the power comes on so consistantly, but when you look at lets say a banshee, there isnt any power untill 5 or 6 thousand RPMS and then it is almost straight up on the dyno, thats why people say only 2 strokes have a powerband...but the guy is an idiot and i could tell just by looking at him

yes.
more precisely when it makes the most efficient torque..

all motors have a point where they are most efficient.

A POWERBAND is a significant increase in power in a certain period of time. Therefore a fourstroke can have a power band... ask any pro a fourstroke can have a hit ... when you take off there will be a lot of noise but you will notice when it kicks in and starts hauling.. stock 450's dont have that but race motors can have that effect.. Learned this from greg gee ..

A four stroke can in fact have a power band, it's not limited to 2 strokes.

The power band which refers to the range of operating speeds under which the engine is able to operate efficiently. A typical gasoline automotive engine is capable of operating at a speed of between around 750 and 6000 RPM, but the engine's power band would be more limited. The engine would typically not generate maximum torque until higher operating speeds of perhaps 2500 RPM, after such, the torque drops off. The peak power (horsepower) might be closer to 5000 RPM. Such an engine would be said to have a "power band" of 2500-5000 RPM (another example would be from torque peak to redline: 2500-6000 RPM).

A more precise definition of the power band: the rpm range where an engine makes at least 75% of its maximum torque.[citation needed]

This can be applied to any engine and establishes a reliable quantification of the above notion "the engine is able to operate efficiently".

That is true, but we are talking a actual power band, hell power wheels have the most power at such a point, so does a fourstroke. But 2 strokes make alot more power in the power band than a 4 stroke would.

Every combustion engine on earth has a powerband, its just when the engine is producing its maximum amount of power through an RPM range.

wow i didnt expect the tred to turn out like this. the reason it was funny cuz the kid was like " do u think it needs a new powerban" and the guys was like "no it dont"

he should have asked him what color powerban was in it.
