I have been rebuilding my 250R and put a 310 kit on it. Well today I put my coolant into the radiator and after a while I nothiced that coolant was leaking from where the shifter shaft goes into the motor? So I took that seal off that keeps dust from enering where the shifter shaft goes into the motor and saw that it was leaking perfusly. Anyway, I then decide to drain my oil out of the motor to see if I got any coolant in my crankcase, and there was, lots of it , I dont know why , but im wonderin of i put my headgasket on wrong?? I dont want to have to get my motor rebuilt, but I heard that if you get water in your crankcase, you have to replace the bearings. any ideas on what is wrong, What should I do to fix it!!

If you got water in the transmission your waterpump seal is bad.It would not be your head gasket. You can replace the water pump seal(there is a sticky on this subject) and change your oil a couple of times and you should be fine
