My opinion would be a K&N for the sand, a UNI will just get clogged up with sand but the UNI is not a bad idea for dirt.

anyone else?

So far im going with the K&N since the only response with any sort of reason, was voting for the K&N...

You can do a search and get all sorts of opinions about filters, I personally run a K&N power lid w/sparks filter for the dirt and desert and run a K&N filter for GLAMIS. Tests show the K&N to let small particles by like fine dust that foam filters trap but if you use a foam filter in the sand it will clog up so thats why you would use a K&N w/outerwear.

Foam clogging up?

Funny, I;ve been riding in Glamis for 20 years and have never, not once, had a foam filter clog from sand.....

I HAVE had K&N's let the sand into the motor though.

This debate is just silly. K&N's can flow more air, but not once you put that stupid outerwear on them. Then they are more expensive and still don't filter out fine dust (the kind of dust found in some of the dirt valleys in the dunes).

I use a K&N in my truck, but not for off-road.

I have both, and the UNI never gets put on in the sand...

I run a $20 outerwear air box lid, with a K&N with an outerwear, and it works great and my intake is always clean...

i actually switch out my filters each day at the dunes...

I run a uni everywhere I go and I have had a K&N filter also and it seems like it sucks more sand than the uni. It really doesnt matter as long as your willing to clean the filter. I run the outerwear on my kandn.

I would get the k&n because I ride in sand and it cleans very easy even if I ride in the dirt once in awhile and if you get the uni they dont hold up as goods as K&N filter so I would get k&n :)

K&N with outerwears hands down in the sand... I ran UNI's and they let sand into the engine.
