I changed the oil in my 400ex and, i ws going to put ams oil 20-50 but my dealer didnt have none.So i had to get spectro gold 20-50 syn and potrollyum mix.I was wondering if this oil is any good, before i ride my ex to much. Also i just put on a alba slip on cut down to a shorty,i bump the main jet up 4 size's from a.248 to a 252 i was wondering if i jetted up enough. Also were does the shorty help out the motor?because it seems like it has the same top end pull as stock, and i thought it would gain...thanks

Spectro Gold is a great oil. It's the only oil that I've ran in mine for the past two years. You should have no worries about it.

are you running lean.. if so.. then you need to bump the jet up..

it all depends on how high above/ below sea level, average temp out side and the mods on the machine, i ran a 152 when i only had a s/o pipe, but once you get an air filter it is always a good rule of thumb to not run anything under a 154, personally i would rather be rich than lean. i would say 154 though a 152 you ought to be fine with. I wouldn' t butcher you pipe just buy a good one like an HMF to start with.

 and with a 248 you ought not to be too lean. :D

is it just me or does anyone else find amsoil is highly over prices and over rated? I mean they make great oil but the price is just outrageous. when i use to use that for my 400ex oil changes would cost just as much as for my car, and my car uses twice the oil.
