Dual Exhaust????

Ok so someone asked this on Thumper talk.com abt a cr250 dirt bike, and go flamed like crazy for it due to its a single Cylinderengine.

Now i know the 400ex is 1 cylinder as well, BUT, it has 2 pipes that connect to one from the head, well the head pipe, so my question is, can you or has anyone put dual pipe on the 400ex? i know it'd have to be 2 of the same pipes, and it would need re-jetting, but any info would be great, i am thinking about doing this project very soon.:devil:

i would think that you would actually lose power doing dual exhaust on a single cylinder. i know i wouldn't invest the money on trying it.

I have 2 FMF slip ons i will try it with if i get some positive feedback, or a maybe. I also heard someone THINK i'd loose power on another forum, but that forum is full of @$$ holes that flame and talk mad smack. Im only going to have to pay for some tubing to re-design my header pipe, so maybe 20 bucks into it if i get some enlightenment or feedback or suggestions etc. Once i get a white brothers r4 pipe (yes i know they stopped making them) i will try this project if i get some good words, and if so, ill have a step by step analysis with pics if i try it, i hope maybe someone has tried it. even if it gives no gains, and no loss's i think id do it, for sound and looks mainly but performance boost would be excellent.

sorry, it was early morning here, havent slept yet so i wasnt thinkin perfectly.

Here is reasoning for me to think a 400ex can run dual exhausts tho, a rappy 700 has a company making tthem for that bike, and its 1 cylinder, and it has gains accross the board for a rappy so why not ex?? hmm i might try this, but thanks for th elink ill check it out!

That company sells them for 400ex's too.

There is a guy on here who used two FMF silencers for a banshee on his 400ex, a little cobby yes, but I guess it worked for him.
