Whats the difference between a service and comman manual? Which one would be better for me? I have an 03 400ex

get the clymer manual its also called the service manual i belive but im not sure on that. i no the clymer manual tells you EVERYTHING about a 400ex and how to fix change install anything on ur quad

The owners manual comes with the ATV and provides basic information about ownership and maintenance. Service manuals do not (generally) come provided when an ATV is purchased new--you buy them seperately. It is a much larger manual that details just about every mechanical/techincal aspect of the ATV. You could strip down and rebuild every part of the ATV using a service manual as a guide.

There are several makers of service manuals: Haynes, Clymer, and OEM (Honda in this case). Honda OEM service manuals are excellent.

I think it's a good idea for most people to have a service manual. If nothing else, it's a great way to learn about your machine.

Get the Clymer, great manual, had one for my CR before it got stolen.
