I recently bought a 400ex with a carbon fiber hood in place of the stock, which means there is no headlight. Anyone custom mounted headlights on a 400ex? Or are there kits to do so?

I am fond of the trail tech handle bar mounted units. very clean looking with plenty of lighting power. Check them out.

The Trail Tech and other similar lights are great, I have a set of Lazer Star. The down side is they mount too high with the bar clamp set up, not a good thing when you roll the quad:(

Some people just buy the lights and mount them to various parts of the frame.

If you have some $'s to spend look into HID's:cool:

I mounted a set of Lazer star style lights in place of the bolts that hold the front fenders in place. Sort of like a banshee. I also have a hood scoop, and these lights light up well, and don't break when rolled!

i run a single cheapie wal mart light mounted to the stem. had to have it for ride at night, but it is easily removed (2 bolts, un hook two wires.) can be done in a minute or so.

VERY bright, and plus i like to have the light turn with the bars.

but bge care full. you don't want to go any higher wattage than the stocker's . you could burn up your stator or regulator if you run to high of a wattage.

here it is. low enough to be out of harms way in a crash, and kinda low profile. right now it is rigged up with zip ties ( can't find a good way to mount it to my new stem

You might want to check the wattage on those. It's my understanding if the combined wattage is more than 60 watts the stator will eventually wear out.

I have some that I'm going to be mounting soon, some generic driving lights with 35w bulbs.

Wouldn't it be better to mount them high, like on the bars, than low. Keep them out of harms way, not so much dirt, and a better angle? It would be easier for me to mount them low but I want them on the bars for the turning thing advantage.

I like the trailtech frame mounted lights, and the good thing about those style lights, is even if they get hit with rocks, the only thing that's gonna break is the bulb, because there is no lense

My friend had a 250x and had a set of lazer stars mounted on the bars like that, he had a spot and a flood, and they were really bright. However everyone around here are fishermen, and teased him about it looking like a LOBSTER! lol.
you're bike looks good though, all black always looks good!

i would considere putting the 450R headlight in the lower part of the nose, after installing my scooped hood!

that wont affect cooler till the scoop is in front of the cooler, and the head light gonna be lower then that. i hope it's will light resonably.

gonna put some pic soon.
