I have been a huge honda fan my whole life, but now i just cant stand not to have one of these. I practicly gave away my highly modified 440 so i could convince my wife that i could get one. I am planning on picking it up tomarrow.

i was nervous that it wasnt going to have the same low end grunt that my 440 had, but i was soon very pleased. its a little harder to bring the front end up on this, but this thing absolutely rips. its going to be an awesome trail bike. this is the easiest bike iv ever tried to get in reverse. kawasaki deffinately did their homework on this and it shows

mmm. so this feeling of wanting to give away one's TRx to get one o these is Not uncommon ............

My bud got his lat night - and I am BLown away completely .
We have already spaced out the bottom arms to camber the wheels to let the bike squat .

I must say though that they are awfully expensive here , almost 20 000 more than a Trx 450 , which I know you will not understand completely , but is Hellishly steep .

Didnt get to ride on it , but i tel you , from what i saw in that garage last night , it had my Jaw dragging along the ground .

My only fear now , is the launch of the New 450 KTM quad , and then the 525 Polaris , because they did a test here against a Raptor 700 , and it Hauls @SS .... 4 out of 4 runs . Damn .

but the KFx is one MEAN Machine .

god that bike looks so sexy...I am thinking about getting one near the end of summer because my dad knows the guy who owns the kawi shop near us so i could get a killer deal...but i have to finish paying my dad back the 1,700 we just spent to get me a 400ex....i like the color you choose its def the same color id get because it stands out...let us know if there are any problems but I am hearing great reviews in all the magazine about it.

I noticed that last night as well .

#$%^#! , Ive never been so googly-eyed about a quad in a long time .

The 400 Trx may be tough - but this thing just absolutely ROCKS .
I like the LTR too , have never chosen one brand over another , always liked the things that catch my fancy ,and if I were Bill Gate's Maid's Brother's uncle - and i could Afford it - man .......Nice ......

I just got my new KFX and I was wondering if your right leg is getting extremely hot, whether its from the exhaust or just the engine?

mod440ex

yeah i did notice that and my pipe blues extremely quick. i dont know if its because its running lean or if its the titanium .

i just got mine last week, and i must say, i absolutely love it!! i havent had any problems with the starting of it. just have to remember not to give the throttle any gas. i do notice tho that the pipe does turn red hot pretty quickly. mine is bone stock. i have a buddy who has the kawi 450r dirt bike also with a titanium header and he said its very common and not to worry about it. i hope he is right....

havent rode an ltr i know iv heard alot of people complain about the gearing, but i think its great for woods riding. if your going to mx and thats it you would be better off with the ltr.

Hate to burst the bubble a little but the Kawi's are experiencing some big problems and some little problems....I noticed a thread had already been started about the gas tank and it is true. There is a recall on the gas tanks for leaking and when it leaks its bad because of where the gas will leak down to!!!!

My Kawi is currently out of commission and Kawasaki has no clue what the problem is. It will start but it will not run and starting it takes a minute. I will try and keep it up to date on here as to whats going on but this is certainly not the only one having problems!!

The race team I am with has 5 Kawi's and two of them the coils have burnt out on them. Another the water pump or something like that went out on it and that was only after 5 miles.

Other dealers have reported the stators going out as well as the clutches!!

I love the Kawi and it handles great but they seem to have a lot of issues out of the gate!

We'll see...

new quads are going to have some issues, i remember when they where recalling ltrs because the frames were cracking.

Fully agreed! Something I've said probably a million times since I got the KFX450.

I actually witnessed one of the LTRs bad weld jobs go very wrong. It was in a WORCS race last year in Idaho! Not good!! But fixable...

I don't care that it has issues but I do care at the lack of knowledge on Kawi's part in helping to get the problem resolved...so we will see. I just want to ride the darn thing : >

has long has kawi steps up to the plate and gets these issues resolved. i was listening to an iterview with william yokely on vs, and he even said they were still tying to work on getting the quad to start easier

Mod.... Great looking quad!

Questions... after you installed the HMF did you have to tune the controller at all?

Is the front exhaust pipe (getting hot issue) affected at all my the addition of the HMF?

Typically how fast does your KFX450 start compared to a carb'd quadlike YFZ450? I hare scramble (dead engine start) race and am very interested in the start timing.

Thanks in advance and congrats on your purchase!

i added one light, thats how you adjust on my efi controller, and it seems to be performing excellent. mine has always started up relatively easy. i would recomend that if you were raincg and had to do dead engine starts to pull out the enrichener knob because it starts alot quicker. it seems like the haead pipe soesnt get has hot has it did with the stocker slipon

hey mod440ex is there any reason why you chose to put HMF slip on over like say a yoshi or pro ciruit muffler? The HMF slip on does look kick ***** on your KFX.

mod440ex
06-11-2007, 02:32 PM
well besides the money, the head pipe is a titanium header so its not losing alot if any power there. and im not really planning on doing any engine mods for a very long time. i was able to pick both the pipe and controller for under 450

i guess i didnt really read the ?. i had an hmf full system on my 440ex, and loved it, compared to powecore 4 and powerbomb header. i like the sound the hmf gives

As long as the motor is warmed up good, it will start as fast as any other quad out there. BUT, you cannot touch the throttle untul after it has completely started(burned me yesterday:mad: )
I was used to my old 400 I would hit the gas and start button simultaneously and you cant do it on the 450. But the KFX is a holeshot dominator once you get used to it. And is very easy to ride fast thorugh the woods. I love it!

i second that, has great lugging power, and when you smash the throttle there is no hesitation your just gone
