Round 5 of the WORCS series was held in the beautiful rolling hills of Los Olivos California at Zaca station.
Aside of various manufactuers who have used the grounds for bike and quad testing, this would be a 1st race ever held at Zaca's Club owned facility- and everyone was very excited to break in the track.....!!

Before heading to Los Olivos,we took the scenic route and made a mad dash after what seemed like an endless drive from Idaho to check out the scenery at Pismo Beach to see what we would be in store for later this season when we re-visit for Round 9 in October.

We arrived early on Friday for Tech inspection and for the Friday practice and I was amazed by the layout on the MX section.

This track was COOL!

The MX section consisted of large step ups, several doubles and ski jumps.
The offroad sections were limited access for coverage, but high speed sections that were like riding on ice due to the type of mud, alot of uphill/downhill switch backs, running threw knee deep ruts, dodging and ducking threw the trees as your following what looks like and old creek bed with passing lanes every 10 seconds! As your running threw the dust thats thicker than the San Fransisco fog:eek2:

The track conditions would vary from heavy dust and silt to mud.

One of the major concerns for the wk. end would be sound testing. With great concerns on being neighborly with there facility, DB's were strictly enforced with the sound DB's set at 99DB .
With so many sound restrictions , we wont be surprised to see lower DB's in the next season for WORCS.

Sat. morning fog rolled threw the hillside, but did not have much of a negative impact on the visibility for the riders.

The number of track entries for the wk. end was slightly down this round being caused from various possibilities.
Theres no doubt rising fuel prices are hurting some of the entries.
Still a great turnout with 445 entries.
