I may have a new project on my hands.


I have 2 fiberglass fenders, and 2 fiber glass bedsides for a ranger.

Color: Sonic Blue

Wondering what prices where? I was thinking $800 - $1200.

Also is it better to have my truck there so they can match the paint? Or so most places not do that?

I had my 4"fiber 1/4's and bed sides painted in maryland for 500 in 2000 so 850 should be resonable

The paint will never look the same as it was originally painted.

mine did it's all in the prep work you have to spray a good base to keep the colors right , my paint was the electric red same process as sonic blue

my hubby is a painter for the biggest autobody shop here in town. He is good at matching the colors. And always points out a bad paint job when we are driving places. So I'll have to ask him to check out this thread and give ya some advice.

I think I am going to buy Sonic Blue spray paint since I have a buddy who can get it cheap and just spray it for now. I know it wont match perfect but its better then white fenders.

Then later (prally next winter) I will take it to my friend who paints for a living, and have my whole truck painted at cost of matrials and a case of beer:D

All you need to get the right paint is the number usually on the inside of the door. using this the can match it perfect. $850 is reasonable for the paint job. hope this helped

again with some advice You spray paint em' they are gonna have a harder time stripping them cuz the rattle can paint turns like rubber when you hit it with a sander, then you gotta re- bondo them to make em look right. suggestion I know it's hard but try not to put them on til you are ready to paint. also if you have any questions when mounting them just pm I installed mine my self as well

Take them to a shop and ask them to expoxy prime the parts and spray it with the PPG color that's for the truck. The expoxy is a excellent sealer and it can fill most of the imperfections that fiber glass has, as for matching the gray expoxy should make it match, they will most likely prime it with the primer that uses DLT16 reducer which also is a really nice product for block sanding with 320,400,500,600 grits.. As far as matching the only thing you should be worried about is the differnce in shine from part to part which most shops will bill you for buffing the entire truck to match or even some " Blend buff "

As said above don't use the rattle can.. Countless cars come into the shop with random boo boo's covered up with a horrible amount of paint on them and that usualy requries a razor blade or 80-180 grit with the DA... It also doesn't get along with automotive paint's, it causes it to lift in some cases..
