From what I've seen for new, stock MX bikes:

450 four stroke: almost 50hp
250 two stroke: almost 45hp
250 four stroke: a little over 30hp

That's a generalization, although the dyno evidence I've seen supports it. But don't automatically expect an older or less then perfectly maintained bike to reach those numbers.

i read on the tech info for 2006 hondas that the 450 had 54 hp and the cr250 had 57 hp stock. that was what it said in the brochure.

a stock CR 250 dont make 57 hp. I have a 02 Cr 250 and it is somewhere in the mid to upper 40s. The old Cr 500s were mid to upper 50s i beleive, and the new 450s are upper 40s

The Cetificate of Origin for vehicles gives horsepower, and my CR's were listed at this

86 CR250 47.5
90 CR250 52.1
93 CR250 50.3
96 CR250 51.5
99 CR250 52.1

99 CR500 61.2

Remember manufacture claims are generally given for at the crank--not at the rear wheel. Take off 10% or so for driveline loss and there ya go.
