i say go for ot!
im 14 and have a stock banshee.
its choked up alot stock. (maybe same speed as 450r give or take abit
some good upgrades i would say are:
Toomey pipes (t5 if you port at all and t6 if you dont port)
ricky stators stator
Trinity racing 35mm single carb (minimum 35mm)
+4 advanced timing key
VF3 reeds
TIRES!! big time
Then get to the expenisive stuff would be front shocks and a arms and a wider axle maybe a durablue or smething i dont know.
MAKE SURE YOU REJET WHEN YOU DO ANY MOTOR MODS!
good luck
P.S you should love the banshee if you like to go fast

Just throw a-arm's, shock's, axle, wheels & tires, Pipe, reeds, airfilter, t.o.r.s removal, pro design timing advance set at 4 degree +, 10mm reed spacers, new clutch perch to clean up bar's, take off the parking brake and get the block off to replace. Also dont put a boost bottle keep the stock cross over tube!
Good pipe's are fmf, lrd, dyno port, cpi, trinity and toomey
Air filters- twin air, uni, k&n and I belive toomey has one.
A-arms- Lonestar, burgard, fullfight (cheap)
Axle- Lonestar & rpm
wheels & tires- what ever the riding requires, I use douglas & itp tires.
t.o.r.s- motion pro
there's quite a bit of stuff to do to them but people get head over heel's into all these motor mod's when the quad is fast enough with basic's it just need's handling aspects.
