Depends on the quality of the porting, I suppose. 35-38 maybe? I think you'd be pretty luck to get out of the 30's. Should be a nice build. I like that settup for a 400EX (not sure about the exhaust though).

look in the dyno sections. most bikes set up similar see mid 30's or so. some hitting high 30's, very few see 40+.

That could be. I just meant I don't know anything about it one way or the other.

The DMC alien is nothing like an HMF, it had dual pipes running into the silencer. There was nothing out there like it, and I dont think they sell it anymore. They were pretty sweet looking IMO, dont know how they fared power wise. Maybe Pappy was thinking of the new DMC afterburner or something?

in my experience with 416EX's we make about 42hp...

here's a 426 we built making 47..

Very impressive Chad...so you made 47HP with only 41 FCR carb, TC gncc cam, 426 piston, LTE dualz and ported head?!?!?! I figured you'd need more than that to just break 40... let alone get 47!!!!! That motor had to have more work than what was mentioned...

nope. that engine was a eBay engine picked up real cheap. we were very pleased with the results.

I don't think your builds are typical though...;)

^ That's awesome 400EX power. What carb, compression, cam, ect. was that running? Any other runs from that dyno to help put the numbers in perspective?

Here's a fairly recent thread with a couple of 416 dyno tests: http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=309032

AWESOME numbers! Who did the port work?

The Port work on that head was done 5 years ago by Fast By Gast it is a full drag port set up. That head in another 416 setup with 40 mm lectron & sparks pipe a few years back did 43 hp to the ground and yes the motor 426 surprises allot of people.
I keep bugging Chad to put it on his flow bench and fine tune but he is so busy with his porting on 450s there has been no time. I hate to take up any more of his family time as he just did a full race port on my stock bore Drg piston / porting set up.
