If you are thinking about getting into this sport I would warn ya it will cost you at least 300 to run a night with tow to track fuel for car pit passes for you and crew and that is if you dont tear anything up . If you think you would like to get into this sport I would suggest goin to a lower class a 4cylinder or factory stck to get your feet wet . The mods are very hard to drive and you can get way over you head quick . If you do think you want to run one I would suggest also spending a 1000$ and go to houston to the best drving school http://www.thedrivingschool.us/ then you know for sure what you are getting into and the teach you setups and how to drive these cars . People in the stands think theres nothing to drving em but there is so much to them its not funny

That one is overslung. Our new cars are over slung on the left side and underslung on the right side.

All cars are 4 bar or Z link. We've done a couple swingarm cars, b ut didnt really like them.

That carrying the left front seems to be all the rage lately around here.

All my cars are 3 link or two link with left side swing arm really keep car planted and I guess I am old school I use spring loaded pull bars instead of the rubber biskit bars . I also rather have a metric car than chevelle have driven both . I personally only have ran a dirt works and grt car and loved the grt and now i bought a friend of mines one off chassis and jig this car is wicked fast and actually uses some asphalt parts on the rear . Its wicked fast but no matter what cant keep left front down but now its only raising about 6-8"

You say that as though you aren't the driver of those cars, but perhaps his son?
I know that's Bart Hartman's shop as I've seen those pics before. Cars look good. One heckuva wheel man!!! Planning on being at Lernerville for the Firecracker at the end of June? That is where I typically attend on Friday nights.

4-bar vs. leaf springs, yes, leafs are easier, but the amount of adjustability with the 4-bars is endless.

Three wheeling: looks cool and can be fast, but if you watch the top dawgs they tend to keep all four wheels somewhat planted.

Here is a car that I used to work on:

Bart's my uncle....i live right nextdoor to the shop, so im over there quite freqeently.... im not sure where hes going this weekend, my guess would be wherever his website says he is going, but hes running and "IRS" (Independent Racing Series) as he calls it, so it can change quite frequently.

Are you saying a 4 bar car is faster than a 3 bar or leafs I gotta disagree but I guess its were you run down here in the south in the summer we are running dry slick tracks all the time and 4 bar cars down here are tough to get adjusted right. A 4 legged dog is faster than a 3 legged dog . I wish imca would go to a quick change rear end . I am almostthinking of goin to get a 305 sprint and run wingless . There is two track here that run them and I beleive it would be a blast .

bah1491

A car can go as fast as any other car, as long as its set up correctly, i know on our cars, their are literally endless adjustments that can be made....between custom fabricating shock mounts, relocating shock mounts, moving this bar here, there.....the possibilities are endless

tat900
05-17-2007, 08:46 PM
yeah same on mods except the shocks but I will say its easier to set up a latemodel than a modified

I will get pics soon but just to give a brief preview of my truck. It isnt as sooped up or high tech. as some of the others I seen but for the cars I put by (fly by) around here, it is nice.

1985 Chevy C-10
Half Ton Short Bed
Lowered 3 inches in the front end.
350 Small block boared over.
Sub-Transmission
Edle Brock Carb
Flowmaster exhaust
Blue and red leather bucket seats with blue carpet interior.
Pioneer CD Player with 2 6 inch Rockford Fozgate Speakers (1 on each door) 2 tweeters (1 on each door).

0-60 in a little under 5. Havent actually clocked doing the 1/4 mile. I will say it will eat any Mustang GT around. I raced an 07 GT Boss edition and ate it.

Easier to set up a late model? you must not have understood what i said haha....there are so many places and things you can set up incorrectly, i dont know, no reason to explain

tat900
05-18-2007, 10:25 PM
Yes but with adjustable shocks and tire compunds that can help tremendously . Modifieds have to put a 8" tire the compound of a hockey puck tothe ground to hook up and run facotry front frame section . I have set up both and honestly the latemodel was easier to make changes on . The hardest car to set up for dirt racing is hobby stock or factory stock why becasue there is not alot of adjustment and you have to use factory parts

bah1491
05-19-2007, 02:08 PM
Easier to make cahnges on yes, more places to screw p changes , definetley haha...mods have far less adjustability

tat900
05-19-2007, 03:51 PM
I agree with you there and I will tell you modifieds are harder to drive than a latemodel
