I was just wondering if anyone knows if anyone makes 450r caliper adapters for 400ex spindles.

Otherwise, do 400ex hubs fit on any year 450r spindles?

why not 250r calipers with a adapter??? The adapter is $200, you can get a nice set of 250r calipers for $100. This is what I have on my hybrid.

I haven't looked yet, but are the 250r calipers dual piston? Do they work as well as the brakes on the 450r? My 400ex could use a little more stopping power up front so I am looking for anything that's better than the stock calipers.

Isn't the reason people use the 400ex spindle/caliper setup is to save weight? Wouldn't an adapter plus a 400ex spindle come pretty close to the weight of a stock 250r spindle? I currently have the 400ex spindle/caliper setup and I'd like to go back to 250r calipers for better braking. It stops very well as is but dual piston has to be better than single.

the spindles are less weight than stock 250r, the brakes really aren't much less. Yes, dual pistons will stop alot better than single piston brakes. There is something else about the 400ex spindles that give it and advantage to 250r spindles too. Alot of racers used 400ex spindles and 250r calipers with adapters for a reason. 450r brakes are just as good as 250r calipers though and can be bought new, but requires the whole 450r front end to be used on a 400ex. It will cost ~$600 to go with a 450r front end. With 250r calipers and adpaters you can have almost the same for half as much.

What do you mean the whole 450R front end?

I believe there have been people on these boards who have put on 450R front calipers on their 400ex's as well as joined it with the 450R front master cylinder.

I meant the spindles, hubs, calipers, rotors and maybe the tie-rods.

That's for the rear.

To go with 450r front calipers you'll need 450r spindles and hubs. Maybe rotors too.
I have the 250r calipers and 400ex spindles with baldwin adapters. For a nice brake improvement, try just slapping on a 450r front master cylinder. I've heard they make a 400ex brake much better.
