I searched all the threads and couldn't find this. Sorry for the separate topic.

Is 450R shocks and Z400/KFX400 shocks the same? I'm talking about the newer Z/KFX shocks (with the piggyback rezzy not the pogos). I know the stock 400EX shocks are the same as the older Z400/KFX400 shocks.

well they are not the "same" shock. similar yes, but not the same.

the reservoir shocks are much better on the Z than the older non adjustable ones, but 450 shocks are better than the ones found on the Z.

just better damping capabilities, and jsut a better shock. the main difference if is you ride the two of em. the 450 shock will feel much better than the Z, just because it is a better shock.

I'm wondering, why do guys that own 450's replace there shocks if they are so good.?.?.? Every 400 owner I see will buy them in a heartbeat...

There is always better. Not so much that the 450's are "so good ", as much as the 400ex's are not as good.

You can run z400 rezzie shocks on your 400ex as well, they will be stiff, I wouldn't say the 450R fronts are necessarily better than the Z shocks (with rezzies) but I will say they will work better on the 400ex, just because the valving is closer than the z 400 shocks. I tried a set of z400 shocks on my 450R and they were stiff. I did it just to see the difference in set up and had no plans of keeping them there. The upper shock mounts on the Zs are narrower too, so the shocks off the Z at the top are going to be a hair wider than the 400ex/450R shocks, which makes installation a tad more difficult. Just some food for thought.

My friend's 2006 Z400's front shocks aren't stiff at all. The Z and 400 are pretty similar as far as weight and weight balance.
