A guy i work with was cleaning his house and found a 1981 cr450r engine almost mint condition and is giving it to me on monday. It is a big bore 2-stroke 450 5 speed close ratio air cooled engine. It hits hard like a cr500 but revs twice as quick(you have to ride a cr500 to know what i am talking about).I am boring it out to 480 basicly the next years engine(1982) and am making a hand made exhaust for it.IT will cost me 8o bucks to totally rebuild the engine and no after market parts were made only gaskets and gears.I have alote of old parts from a 300ex and a frame. I will repaint the engine red with a blue frame and black 300ex new plastics(450r look). It will have houser gull wing a-arms with my lt-r 450 shocks (getting fox floats formy lt-r) and a houser plus 2 swing arm.Pretty much all the stock parts from my lt 450r with go on it.My goal is two make it as fast as my 450 and as well rounded.I just paid off my 450 and thought this would be a cool project if all goes will I will make another one to sell. The only thing i dont know about is if I want twist or thumb throttle?

Here is a old pic of my 450r before my blingstar bumpers and black t-9 baja rims with I-razr's!

Im pretty sure the cr450/480s were 4 speeds. Its been a while so i could be wrong. They also have right side drives so you'll have to go with a 81 to 84 250r or cannondale rear end set up.The vibration from those engines are wicked as well. You'll jarr your tooth fillings loose at wfo throttle.:eek2:

Well I know that the 82-83 cr480 is 4 speed because I'am putting one in a 84 atc 250r
