When I shipped out my cylinder to get bored, I had them install the HD head studs and I didn't get any info on the new tq specs. And I'm putting it together tomorrow and there not open to call. Not sure if they get tq'ed any higher or lower.

And on a side note dose anyone use locktight (red\blue) on the head stud nuts, on my last engine I had one come loose on two occasion last year and trying to prevent future break downs.

Thanks Nick

when i had my hd head studs put in the clerence on the threads wer so tight that when i put lock tight on it would not screw in so i just tightend them to 40 ftlb and i have had it for about 2 yrs without any problems

if it were me i wouldn't use any lock tite. maybe a drop or two of regular engine oil on the threads to ensure a true torque reading. BUT ONLY A DROP OR TWO (Don't soak them)

Nothing should be used on the threads.

Especially when we're talking about that small of a number, it should be torqued with clean, dry threads.

Colby recommended torqueing high comp engines to 41-42ft lbs IIRC
