I went riding the other day and noticed when i let off the throttle it would smoke a little, the smoke was a white color with some blue in it. I noticed nothing out of the ordinary and it only smokes after warmed up. Could this just be a blown piston ring because i already have a piston and gaskets on the way but i just want to make sure it's the rings.

I wouldn't think it would be the rings, usualy if the rings are bad it will smoke untill its warmed up, then the smoking starts to go away. It may be you valves leaking.. what model/year is your bike?

its an 02 400ex. I am the second owner but i dont think that the top end has ever been tore apart except for a valve adjustment i did in march.

valve seals most likely. a sign of rings is smokin all the time. valves seals it usually smokes on decel and start up.

alright looks like i just might go ahead and get a valve job done and clean everything up a bit. about how much does it cost to have a valve job done?
