View Full Version : VP2 VP4 and 110 octane

Was looking at different fuels like everyone else I suppose.

From my UNDERSTANDING the VP's are designed to be run in 2-strokes where a straight 110 wouldn't be as good...supposedly.

I can get the 110 for about 4 a gallon and what would be the issue of running it in my DRR?

Please dispell my misunderstandings and point me in the right direction.

Make sure you bump up your main jet a few sizes...

Race gas will make you run leaner

The 110 is leaded so in 4 strokes the lead can ask as a cushion for the valves

Is there a problem using the 110 in a premix or injector application for a 2stroke?

Not that I am aware of....

Too much octane is not always a good thing...

Have you checked on the Klotz 100 octane unleaded fuel?

Mix your 110 with 87 low test. Not the 92. Then go racing.

50/50

50/50

That is what we used to run in our DRR50 with great results.

Is that on your stock 50 or a 50 with a high compression head..

Did you have to jet a little richer due to the higher octane?

Read your plug and do what it requires.

So you mix it 50/50 is that with a high compression motor or with the stock head?

We ran a high comp head and yes we had to re-jet. I agree that the best thing to do is read the plug and jet as needed.

Would a 50/50 mix be an improvement on stock heads?

Also isn't harder to read plugs that are run on race fuel?

Not positive but my engine builder told me that running race gas on a stock head was a waste of money. I never had any problem reading the plugs with the race gas and I am no pro . :D

Running straight race fuel would be a waste on a stock head, but a 50/50 mix wouldn't be...IMO

Straight race fuel has too much octane for the stock compression to take advantage of

I went through this conversation on my TRX450R with I went 13.5:1 compression.

I have seen first hand better performance from a mix of 50/50....

It really just allows more fuel in to be burned (richer jetting)

But 100% race gas is definately a waste for a stock head.

I had always heard that the race fuels burn a lot cleaner/whiter on the plug so it is harder to get the same kind of plug read that you would get from pump gas?
