We need more info.

Are you going to pull a trailer? If so how big?

Is it a daily driver?

Do you need to haul passengers? Is so how many?

Do you off road?

From what I have read flex fuel dosen't get any better mileage and is just as expensive

ethanol is cheaper by the gallon, but will hurt your fuel mileage. ethanol has a lower energy content, so when you run it in order to make the same power more fuel is dumped in. the more fuel lowers gas mileage.

but anyway, the newer full size trucks get as good of mileage as teh compact trucks do. if i baby my truck i get about 16 around town, normal driving is about 14.5. i would say got for either the GMC or the chevy, but not the avalanche.

id go with the ranger....

or even though its dodge... look at the 4.7 dakotas.. good mileage and power.. im not a dodge man but i love our dakota.. 03, pulls a trailer good with the upgraded tranny.

Dont buy a ranger to expect better mileage, cause its not happening, unless you get a 4 banger.:o

I own a Ranger and wouldn't buy a brand new one. The new 1/2 tons are getting the same if not better mileage and are much more comfortable.

I have a 98 dodge extended cab with a cummins in it and i get a consistant 16.5 driving it around and about 11 pulling a trailer. It is a 4x4 with 35" tires on it. And i promise you i never run out of power when pulling our enclosed trailer. And i have plenty of room for friends. I have always had ford trucks and this is my first dodge and i am very impressed with it.

hey sorry about that, this truck will be my daily driver, and i will occasionally pull a 8 ft trailer. As far as offroading goes not very much just around the house. Alot of my friend have had problems with transmissions in their dodges. I like the toyota as well but the are expensive. Also the gas doesnt matter because its only getting higher LOL!! I think i have narrowed it down to the GMC, Chevy, and the F150.thanks

If you're going to get a new truck, I would go with the Chevy or the Ford. The new Chevys will switch from 4 to 8 cylinders whenever they're needed. So you save gas money with daily driving but have the power when you pull a trailer. Of course an 8ft trailer could easily be pulled by a Ranger or S10, but they will probably get about the same gas mileage as the new Chevy. The Ranger or S10 will get better gas mileage than the other makes and models that you listed.

yea i would go with the chevy b/c u get the gas mileage of a 4 cyl but when u need the power of and 8 it's right ther also think the new chevys look way better than the fords .

Why would he get a diesel? He's pulling an 8ft trailer. LOL.

Cause you can never go wrong with a diesel!!!!

I would typically agree with you. I love a good diesel. However, for his particular application that might be an overkill. 3 words come to mind...Active Fuel Management (http://www.chevrolet.com/pop/silverado/2007/afm_en.jsp)
