yea that actual quad in the picture isn't the '08 but YAMAHA is coming out with one in '08 with the 250f motor in it. thats what the article said on atv scene.

"At this time Yamaha has yet to produce or even comment about producing such a machine," quote from the article.

looks to me like its a simple yfz with a 250f motor. the idea would be cool and its been talked about a lot, but sales would not be so great is my guess. to build a 250 race quad aimed at just the racing scene is not a great idea. if yamaha makes a 250, it will most likely be like a blaster with a 4 stroke motor in it.

This is just like dirt wheels did a few months back where they tryed making there own kfx 450 before it ever came out.
I know ive heard that suzuki has a really good chance of having one made by 08. I think theyd be a great idea. If they were just a slightly smaller frame than the 450's with the 250 engine. thatd be one fast and light bike.

I would have skipped my b-day party for that one.

no, somebody was gonna build one to run in the 300cc class (which they never actually did) but I was gonna be too young, 15, at the time of the season start, and you have to be 16, don't remember all the exact details

anyway, my question is: they claim it lost ~100 pounds?!? all they replaced was the motor, which a 450 motor only weighs about 65 pounds (shipped one a few months ago), so even if that motor is lighter there is not way they would have lost 100 pounds, maybe 25...

how do you know how to type without being able to read? thats not what they said at all. they said HOPEFULLY this will spark ideas @ yamaha (or any other manufacturer for that mater) to build something like this. But I guarantee you they have already thought about it before these people...

and I think there would be a good market for them, good bike for kids to learn how to use a clutch on, good bike for people that want full size bike but don't care for the power of a 450, great bike for youth racers (which is growing extrememly fast)

From the forum over there:

"This isn't new news, KOQ racing and JB racing have been making these for the past three years, and have been trying to get the oems to take notice and build one for the youth riders. I know that both Alex trompen KOQ, and Thomas Brown JB rode these in their local races over 2 years ago winning against the 450's."

"the Jb was a little bigger then his normal 90 mod, the koq was a full size 250 R style and they still have pics and specs on their web site. they still sell a few every year to guys where their district rules allow that type of mod."
