Why should your ATV be left out?
Perma-Cool ATV oil coolers are designed to work on the small chassis of ATVs and bikes. Why should your recreational vehicle be left out and suffer from overheated oil and premature engine failure? These coolers will ensure that your engine oil stays cool under the harsh conditions that racing or trail riding can produce. They include a hose, instructions, and mounting hardware to make installation a snap!

Air scoops and ensure the quad is jetted correctly. If it's lean than it will heat up more than it should.

correct jetting, scoops,an extra oil cooler, put heat tape on oil tank(don't know if that actually works but I did it)

I'm interested in this as well.

Has anyone used the aux oil cooler successfully.
How do you know it doesn't put too much restriction in the system or overwork the pump.

What about making up for the increased capacity, just overfill it on the stick a little?

Also, what of these air scoops. Anybody have pics or a place to buy them?

Use the search feature on the website. There are a ton of threads about air scoops already.

My quad has air scoops. Click on my signature link below to see pictures.

yeh i like the scoopds but has any one used the bigger oil cooler, that seems like it would work. also what about an exhaust. i want to get a slip on but if it helps keep it cooler then i will hold off on other thing till i get the money for an exhaust.

i was thinking about hmf

i have the same oil cooler mentioned earlier from summit. and avent had any problems with it at all. it wont restrice you oil system at all because the hoses are larger than the stock oil passages. the oil cooler kit also routed the oil going to the head through the cooler first insted of throught te hot cylinder that acually heats the oil.

try to keep the cooling fins on your engine free of mud and other crap.

How about jet-hot coating the cylinder?? I wonder if thats been done?? Seems like it would help cool it a bit...

You mean coating the outside of the cylinder?

Ceramic coating keeps heat in, not takes it out.

Looks great! How much did the oil cooler cost and where did you buy it? How much additional oil do you add to make up for the larger size?

I think i should have done a lil research on that before i said something ..oh well, i guess it wouldnt hurt to put it on the header or maybe get some header wrap on it. Probably wouldnt help much, but hey every lil bit helps:cool:

Hey j450rking, what all did you do to put the cbr cooler in it.?? You didnt have to drill and tap into the engine like some of the other ones did you?? What does the line mod consist of?
I think i might run this cooler whenever i do my engine build..

i didn't have to tap or drill anything i just zip tied it to the frame.

the line mods was just an exstension that you can see i used a copper pipe with exstra fittings and i bent the polished pipe from the engine

This FST-style cooler has worked really well for me. Yes, you do have to drill and tap two holes, but it really wasn't that hard, and the results were great. I just made a grill from some expanded steel (you can use whatever you like), and then mounted the cooler to the grill with a $5 universal tranny cooler mount kit from Checker Auto Parts.

OOhhh.. I see what you're talking about now. Just add a lil bit of line from the oil tank, too easy:blah: . I know Im going to use this cooler now. Does it matter what year model it is??

F-16GUY,

Does the FST use the stock in out lines and just reroute them?

I'm trying to get a mental pic of the way the lines run and why you would need to drill the valve cover and clutch cover. Does it add two more lines or reroute the stockers.

I'm thinking about buying a universal cooler like that, modding the STOCK lines to fit, and slapping it on.
What's wrong with that?

Thanx

Greg
