i personally would get the 416. the 440 requires you to bore the cylinder out all the way i believe. the 416 gives more torque, the 440 gives more top end.

440 requires you to re-sleeve, a 440 is more of a low/mid gain, Doesn't give you much top end at all. It also makes the quad rev a little slower because of the heavier piston.

I am the guy that is wanting a 440 or a 416. I realywant the 440 becaue I like the tought of 50 ponies, and m main cmpitetion has 440 and Iam going to be going up to pro soon and rcing with Johnny Hale and Hunter Miller ( which i wont be able to beat) but once I get to there level I want to be able to keep up with them some what. I havea gy that is going to do the wrk fo me and its going to becomplettly dne piston cams carb everything. If you have any othe thoughts plase let me know.

u wont need all the top end of the 440 in mx, wut is wut i assume u are racin. u want a quik revvin kit, like the 416 that will accelerate fast. i was gonna get a 440 then i thought about it a little.

I could put certain cams and other things in it to give it to have a whole lot of bottom right?

ive got a 440 kit. mine revs out extremly quick. the low end is quick and torquey along with the midrange, but the top end was about the same. then i bought an hmf silencer and i got alot of topend. im thinkin about a cam and porting for even more topend. the 440 cost a little more $, but in my opinion, if your gonna have it off and have the time to do it, do it right.

Thats what I am thinking but I have been told that a 416 done right can keep up with a 440. And if I get anything done its going to be all out. My other concern is having the 440 blow up on me alot.I am only goin to ride it when I am on a MX track and with race gas, orhalf race gas half supreme.

Sometimes deciding on what size engine to build can be tough, but in your case I think you will be happy with the 416. I came up there from Houston a month or so ago and raced one of my bikes in two motos and dominated the holeshot in the amatuer and the open four stroke class. If you were there you might have seen it, the only one with the gibson long travel front end. I have just about every one of them running in our series and I dont think you can been the 416 for overall dependability and usability. I also dont think you going to have much of a chance against Hunter and Codys 450Fs anyway, those two guys are on fire. Well good luck and let me know if I can help. By the way, the STQRA is having there last big race of the year in two weeks just north of Houston Texas and we would love to have you guys down here. RageATV.com

get the 416. all i have is a 416 and a cam, and if i dont win the holeshot im in the top 3. i talked to some kid after one race who had a 440 kit with everything done and i out pulled him off the line. he thought i was runnin something wild. but i told him what it was and he was kinda mad, cuz he spent all that money and got beat. so get the 416 and if u want get a complete 416 kit which will be even better.

if you go to a 440 you have to get larger valves. there is not enough valve are to take full potential of the 440 plus you have the added weight of a larger piston

the 416 is almost a perfect set up with a aggressive cam. a properly set up 416 will run faster than a 440 that has stock valve size. the 416 benefits from a carb and a 440 would definitly need it.

if i were you i would get the 416, ported head, stage 2 cam. 11:1 possibly a carb and a full exhaust. perfect set up.
