Can anyone give me some information or point me to a "how-to" for replacing a clutch in a 400EX. I want to make sure I do it right.
Thanks
The plates? You take the whole side off. Then take the spring bolts out. Then slide the pressure plate off. Then your plates are next and will slide off easily and only part of the clutch that will be left in the motor at that point is the basket which stays in their. Just slide the new plates in and put it together and your ready to go. Use a torque wrench when putting the spring bolts in. You might need a new gasket but i'm not sure.

the honda factory service manual says to tighten the clutch bolts/springs in a criscross pattern in several steps, it doesnt give an exact torqe spec. Just make sure you do it in several steps so nothing binds up. I would replace the right side cover gasket while your their just so you dont have to worry about leaks. Dont forget the dowel pins in the cover in case they fell out.

Make sure you soak the plates before you install them.
