In talking with other ATV riders around here, I was shocked at how many people do not take precautionary measures to avoid ATV theft.

I'll just say that around here, there are groups of "poo heads" that will follow you home using radios / nextel and surveillance methods just to find out where you live and how you store your ATV. They also hang around riding areas to "scope" things out.

Chances are if they make you suspicious, then they are...

Things you can do to avoid potential theft:

1. Be concious if someone is following you by driving different routes home.
2. Don't drive immediately to your residence, take a couple of trips around the block in someone else's neighborhood to see if anyone is following you.
3. Try to identify suspicious people at the place you ride, if they seem suspicious, then they probably are...(guys that don't belong)
4. If there is someone following you or are at the place where you ride, jot their tag number down and don't be afraid to look at them carefully. It will help an investigator later on if there are multiple thefts in the area.

I love this sport but there are others out there that want to benefit from your hobby.

Feel free to add your thoughts and suggestions...

Mods, if this needs to be moved or deleted...it's understood.
