I rode a person on the back with me the other day and I started up a pretty steep hill and It bogged really bad and almost stalled out. I have a 2005 yfz 450 with cam mod, exhaust, kn air filter. Should it do this is second gear.

First off what's the weight of the riders? That would make it bog and also if you have changed the gearing on the yfz. You saying you were on the throttle all the way?

I am about 160 and the other was about 140. Yeah I had to almost pop the clutch to get it to keep going.

so you haven't changed the gearing or anything else? Tire size?

I went down one tooth on the front sprocket, It does awesome with just me on it, but when you add more weight it doesn't have nothing. I am running 20 inch Izazors.

im 180, and ive taken chicas out on mine with no problem whatsoever... obviously you need to have the rpms at a decent level to maintain the power, but...

if you dropped a tooth in the front, i just dont think youre ridinig it hard enough... its not a raptor where it has enough torque for whatever...

if you went down a tooth in the front you should get more bottem end out of the motor, up one tooth will give you more top speed. I don't see how you could be boggin' down unless your just not geared down enough for the hilll.

I don't understand how it could bog either, I ride it really hard. I was messing around yesterday on it and I would lugged it down a little in second on a hill and then stabb the throttle without touching the clutch and it would bog really bad. I think its the cam mod thats causing it, the power is all or nothing, it has nothing in low rpm but when you get into high rpm you better hang on because it hits hard.

Well I never let mine lug around I believe that is worse on a motor than riding one hard. I have the cam mod and have for awhile and I didn't notice that bog down low or the all or nothing after doing it I thought it was a good improvment to my riding style and atv.
