Which would be better for a ex hybrid>525exc vs 525xc vs 450sx

could someone tell me which motor is better for the 400ex frame and which one would be faster please.

both the 525's has 6 gears and the 450 has 4 gears.

It really depends on what kind of riding you do. The sx motor is made for motorcross so each gear is a little taller than the exc motor which allows you to shift less. So I would say on a track the 450sx motor would be a faster motor than the 525exc motor. Now in a drag or dune riding the 525exc motor will win hands down.

Keep in mind that they make the 525sx motor as well and it is a MONSTER with the sx gearing.

As a 450sx owner i can tell you the 450 sx has a shorter stroke so it will have more of a "hit" and power delivery similar to the yfz's and crf;s etc.However the 525s can be real monsters with their broad torque curves and versatility of the 6 spd trannies.The 525 exc would be my first choice as that will do mx as well.;)

soooo the 525sx would be faster than the 450sx? which ever is faster and has a better "hit" to it is the one i wont to get.

Then the 525sx is what you want. The 450sx is just as fast if not faster than anything that comes in a quad today. Then you add another 75cc's and you have something that is nastier and faster. Not only will it have a ton of torque but the horsepower will be insane stock as well. There is and 03 on ebay for less then 2 grand that comes with the carb and all of the electronics and it looks like it is in great shape. I am in the process of building a duner with the EXC motor and I am pumped about it.

Keep in mind with either of those engines they are going to put extreme stress on the frame. What frame are you planning on modding?

I wouldn't want anything but a 525SX. Fastest MX engine on the planet. The '04 and up are the fastest, but the '03 is no slouch.

As a HUGE KTM fan (i own both a 250sx and 450sx) the 2001 and 2002 Ktm 520s were rockets as well.The 450sx revs faster due to the shorter stroke.Either one is crazy fast for a quad.The 525 does have more torque though.;)
