Check out the website, not a lot of info, but towards the end of the video you can see the ds450 from a few different angles, looks to be as promising as I hoped it would. I had a feeling Can-Am would show everybody whats up... Sound like it will be the lightest 450 and most powerfull...
Check it out...

eh, itll be just like all the other 450s...This sport will eventually get to the point where there will be about 5 or 6 colors to pick from, all will be aluminum frame, EFI and a 450 motor... now the real question is do you want it in blue, red, green, yellow, or orange??

I agree! all are going in the same direction!

Haha reminds me of when the Predator came out, cuz they had a special website for that. They are only gonna be able to make a frame so light before they become weak....... I see they have the exhaust coming out the left side. The bottom frame rails are almost as close as the KFXs main box rail. Looks ugly too!

looks OK
only if stupid companies would realize how gay some of the new sport quads looked. like the kfx450 and the new ds450 they have that retarded chunky robot spaceship crap plastic looks.
like IMO the 250r and banshee look the best because they are just normal not all fancy ****, like the 450r and yfz are way better looking than compared to the kfx450 and new ds450 but the R and SHEE look the best PERIOD

Im excited.

Im still in love with the kfx too.

05-05-2007, 01:33 PM
Very true, the KFX and this new DS look like garbage, the old 250rs look so sweet, i lke the look of the LT 500s too, i think the yami looks the bets out of the 450s. and out of all 4 strokes i would say the 400ex looks the best, but the 250r had the best look ever

i dont see why everybody gets all offended and dont care when a new 450 quad comes out... to me... it mean #1 our sport is getting bigger and better #2 bikes are getting better and more compatition to be better #3 soon the bikes can come off the show room floor race ready like the dirt bikes

Its a good sign that another brand 450 is coming out because it means the 450s are selling and that means quads are growing ,so its all good.

But i think its going to be pretty much the same thing as the other 450s. Personally i think all the 450s need to go up a level or two on the stock hp ratings as well.

05-05-2007, 02:30 PM
i dont get offended, they are just getitng boring. Looks like by the way tings are going by 2010 there will be yamaha, honda, kawi, suzuki, polaris, KTM, ATK, and now can-am 450s....Yes it does mean it is growing but i think better growth would come from 250 race quads.

well my prediction is that the can am is gonna have all the bells and whistles and be impressive, but the drawback is probably gonna be that can am is going to want an insane msrp for it like them gas gas quads that everyone liked but nobody bought.

05-05-2007, 02:42 PM
oh yeah, add gas gas to my list of 450s :D

great to see another 450 and that can am/brp is focusing on cutting weight down cause all there other sport quads are like busses for weight but the question is how good of quality will the frames will be
i doubt power will be an issue after all the renegade is insane

It'd be nice to see it with as much power as the bikes so maybe the rest of the Jap quads will want to step it up

i think the 450's look way better than the old out dated 250r.not saying there trash or any thing but if you like 2-stroke thats the way to go.some of the 450's are going to far with the shape of the plastics.some are starting to look like spaceships.have you seen the dinli 450.who would want that.yfz450,trx450r,ltr450,kfx450 look good but if you look at the predator, outlaw, dinli,ds,atk, cannondale, they took it to far.thats my opinion.how long do you think the 450's will stay on top.:D

05-05-2007, 04:39 PM
the 450s will be on top for a while, itll just get to be like the bikes....each year they will improve just a tad so everyone goes out and spends another 6-7 K on their choosen 450. The only thing that will dethrne the 450s will be if they change the rules of racing. if they allow a 450 2 stroke to compete with 450 4 strokes it would all change, or even if they allowed a 300 or 350 2 stroke to compete with a 450 it would change, but that will never happen

I predict within the next 2 years or so at least three of the mfg's will have a 250f race quad...which will be very cool, hopefully they don't detune them, b/c a 250f bike rips.

There is more than one company w/a 250 racer in the works, but one is at the front of the pack. Will be awhile yet, but there will eventually be a competitive 250cc 4-stroke class.

I think its good we are getting more attention, but like someone stated i am sick of seeing the completely homo spaceship looking things they keep coming out with, i mean the heal guards on the LTRs make you think its gonna lift off the ground or something:huh

But im sure honda and yammi will still have the two best looking when they change things up a bit... just look at the 80s version of the "quad racer" it looks super gay too.. suki just has stupid looking rides and kawi sucks anyways

I really don't care what it looks like. If it rides well and is a great performer then I'm happy. I think all the new quads look dumb personally, but hey, things change. 250R style was around forever so things needed a change. still my favorite look though.

i think its the best thing that could happened to the sport cause new brands and new bikes means new factory riders and evrytime theres a new atv something improves

I agree about the looks of the new 450's. The Banshee, 250R and 500's plastic looked like it was there to "cover" the bike, not make a statement. I think the best looking one out right now is the LTR as far as "racey" looking. Its farely plain like the 250R and I think thats what gives them charactor. As for the DS, I think it will be a good one. If they use a Rotax motor it will fly and hold up. They have nailed the hot-rod 4x4 market and I'm excited about them putting effort into a 450. The companies TRY with the bikes and its like they put out a quad and say,"Here you go." Thats sucks. Between that and the fact that money is tight with everyone "I" know(I can't speak for everyone) atv racing is going down hill. They are selling a ton to trail riders since they can finance the bike but the people who spend that much more on aftermarket up-grades for racing are declining really fast. I could jump higher, get around corners faster, charge rough sections harder, and felt more comfortable on my Banshee with the stock shocks than I can on a "state of the art" 2004 Honda 450' shocks and weak motor. I think the KTM will put them all to shame and set a very high standard.

IMO and after looking what Can am does to the utilityu quads. I think this thing is gunna kick all the other 450s butts on the track and off. Finally maybe something that can keep up with a Cdale in a drag

soon stuffs gonna be all like dirt bikes.you choose ur color and motor and everything else is the same....im sure the ds will have a kick or elec start option, reverse, efi we'll see if we can get some race ready ones off the floor then we need some better preforming 4x4's:D

i agree too because its what makes one of the diferences btwen dirtbikes( puting aside the ovious ones) because the looks can make a new buyer to chose between brands

imo the ltr450 hood/light remind me of a concord jet or the "7up cartoon guys"

honda/yamaha still look best

pred/kfx/can am etc. have a cheap kids toy look

..imagine this "quad" (sorry for use this word.. ) with a 450 engine, and youŽll have the new DS 450 in your mind ;)

it looks horrible, but if it runs faster than the other 450s..is enough

They do rip.. I personally know a guy that that has modded a 250f bike motor into a 400ex frame.. I've talked to him about it and he said it can put out as much power as a modded 400ex. Put it this way when his little brother races blasters and 300ex he said he has 5 or 6 bike lengths on them on the holeshot. This would be great for the industry IMO.

a 250 4 stroke dirt bike revs like 13,000 rpms, and make more power than a 400 4 stroke quad..i think this sport is coming to its prime..250 racers..will be a hit and and so will all the choices for 450's..if i had a choice between..the ltr, trx, kfx, yfz or the ds..it would be the ltr ( no thinker ) and then the kfx or trx

I dont know where you have been for the past 17 or so years, there's a thing called a banshee, 2 stroke 350 quad haha and they dor ace against 450's where im from there in the 450 class, maybe you don't get out to races or it's different near you?

Or did you mean cause they don't make them anymore so that's why you 'left' them out?

I think that the frame and subframe on this quad will save some money cause it won`t need expensive gussets and the subframe looks very strong, so no need to replace it.
Maybe I`m wrong with the statement but hopefully not. The only downside that I see is the 46" width, it should be 50", cause I don`t see the aftermarket brands making forged aluminum A-arms for MX.

soilworker
05-25-2007, 08:16 PM
I'm sure somebody will make a set of forged arms if they can prove them to be sturdy enough.

As for the frame: I still love the idea. Hopefully it is as strong as they say. Frames are getting better. The KFX doesn't need to be welded, C'Dales never have needed to be, and now this one doesn't even have a weld, lol.
