How much play should there be in the tie rods?

play what do u mean by this where at in the tie rod there should be any play.

im thinking ...no play..if there is play that means the ball joints arent tight on

there is no play. they rotate each way when installed, but no play. the ball joints rotate 360 degrees. did your ball joint nuts loosen and come off the shoulder. ...then again ,what do i know, i cant even get my rings on my beadlocks, duh.
