DS650 or 400ex??

i want both a ds650 &400ex, but i can only choose one, which one would u prefer?? and how much for a ds650?

well, it depends on what kind of riding will you be doing with it. if you do alot of trail riding especially tight trails a 400ex would be your qaud. if all you ride is open dunes or nothing tight then you might want to get the ds650 but i would probably still want the 400. id say go look at a ds and 400 and see which one you feel more comfortable on.

ive ridden both, a stock 400, and a ds650 with rotax pipe(system) k&n filter, tsg metals, and bandit tires.....but even though its got all that stuff on it, the guy said ud still go about 68......if i knew how much a ds650 was id look into it because i only have 6 grand to spend and i need to know much it is

I have nothing but good things to say about those 2 machines... They are the kings for reliability.

I like the power and torque of the DS but it is also bigger and heavier. The 400 is also much cheaper and, in my opinion, looks better.

No matter what those magazines say the DS really isn't bad for jumping and trail riding.. Try them both and see for yourself.

You can find an USED ds650 for way less than $6,000. Just the other week, I saw a Baja in the WANT-AD for $4500!

400ex are really easy to find in the trading magizines, i get trading magizines all the time and i only found 1 or 2 ds-650s and there priced wernt that good, if your looking to get one used, unless you kno a ds for sale, your goin to have a LOT more options if you go with the 400ex

get a new 400ex and use the rest of the money to mod it. or you could always go with the bansh :D

I have a friend with a DS650 BajaX and my brother has a 400EX. The DS650 feels wayyyyy bigger than my '03 Raptor, but is a lillte bit quicker. I think the DS is way too heavy and big to really manuever and handle, especially in tight trails. It just doesn't feel or handle like a sport quad to me. Plus my friend has had nothing but problems. I think they dropped the crate that his DS came in at the dealership and he didn't realize it til after he bought it. He had already had the axle replaced, probably from being dropped, has had to put a new battery in it, and I believe has had another issue with being unable to start it. I would get the 400 if I were you. The 400s have a huge aftermarket, are fairly inexpensive to mod, and are super reliable.

I would personally buy the DS.

I race desert races on a DS(just got 3rd in Quad-Am at the BITD Avi 150:D ) and they are an awesome bike for fast, rough type riding.

They have amazing torque, and have the power to pull VERY tall gearing.

In rough terrain, the suspension is amazing, it will soak up most anything, at VERY high speeds.

They also arn't as bad to jump as most make it sounds.

They do require a much different riding style then most other bikes.

If you do tight, slow trails, then go for the 400, if you do fast, rough stuff, go for the DS.
