got a 416ex first one I've owned and I was wondering could you get the plug out with a deepwell socket or what, and wondering what size and plug to use.

you need either a plug wrench similar to the one in the factory tool kit or a thin wall deepwell 18mm socket. i would suggest a DPR8z or a DPR9Z if you plan on running it hard.

the plug can be a pain to get to, the plug wrench works the best for me.

yea i used a 18mm deepwelll socket and grinded it down with a bench grinder. works great and only cost like 3 bucks.

Make sure before you take the plug out you blow some compressed air to get any dirt out. And i find it easier to get to the plug when the bike is on its tail.

yeah, I've found that other than the factory tool. A Craftsman 18mm deep socket is bout the only one that will fit. There may be others, but Craftsman is EZ to find. And it's a tight fit at that.

motion pro makes a socket designed for them. I got it on ebay pretty cheap and it is longer than a normal deep well. You can use a ratchet a wrench or a straight bar its pretty slick.
