I think some people dont understand what race is.

Race pretty much has nothing to do with the country your family originates from.

"The most widely used human racial categories are based on visible traits (especially skin color, facial features and hair texture), and self-identification"

You guys are identifying your ethnicity, not race.

A similar topic came up on another forum recently and I liked one of the responses... I am AMERICAN>>>

"I have an argument about this at least once a month. I travel alot for work and meet tons of people and every once in a while I'll get a , "So, where are you from?" When I say Jersey I get, "No I mean your family." Again I reply New Jersey. Then they get cute and ask what nationality I am. I say American and this seems to stump people. Not once, never, have I ever asked someone back the same question and they have ever said that they too are American. Polish, French, African (How the F#%@ do you claim a continent), Italian, Mexican, Brazilian, from one of the Islands in the Bahams or Caribbean. Never American. I did have a Cuban national tell me he was Canadian once but that was YEARS ago.

I am all for honoring and remembering ones heritage and family culture but if you were born here, grew up here, and still live here and DONT call yourself American, maybe you should think about moving the &^%$ out of the country.

I'm so sick of those stupid rants. America is about freedom so im free to call myself whatever the hell i want. If you have a problem with someone else practicing freedom then you should think about getting the &^%$ out of the country.
