MX - lots of big jumps, big berms, whoops, etc.

XC - Trail racing, lots of trees, mud, tight spots, rocks, roots, stumps, hills, you name it.

SX - Pretty much a tighter mx track, I believe it mostly has smaller jumps but more rythem section style things.

Flat Track (TT) - You use special street-like tires to slide around on slippery clayish material or really hard packed dirt.

It looks like clay, I don't really know what it is to tell you the truth.
