Does anybody know if it would be possible to mount a 250x motor into a 250R frame without cutting it at all, just making new motor mounts?

from what i understand, you can but it will throw chains all the time. to do it right you have to widen the lower frame rails to fit the motor lower in the chassis, talk to swigin about this though

A buddy of mine is doing this but with a 300ex motor. IIRC the rear mounts don't have to be cut, but the motor is too tall to fit the 250r gas tank

thats one other reason to lower the motor

quite a bit of work is involved to do it right.

I have a question, why would you sacrifice one of the best bikes in the world to just throw in some four stroke motor? i'm not being sarcastic i just cant understand it.

You obviously didn't read. I was asking if I could put one in without cutting on the frame.

I went to an aftermarket frame so I have an extra frame and rather than it just sit or sell it, I wanted to know if I could make the 250X handle better.

I did a 300ex motor in mine without butchering the frame.I did have to raise the tank a bit because i didnt widen the bottom rails but it wasnt a necessity.Sprocket alignment is perfect and i havent thrown a chain yet.One will have to lower the motor for a 350x engine though as the head is too fat to fit up top between the rails. Its a blast with the 300ex motor to ride.Look elsewhere for Swigin's thread for pics of it.;)

your right i obviously didn't read into it right. besides you didn't explain that it was a left over frame, i thought you were butchering a good R. I wasn't trying to be an *** i was just confused

Originally i didnt want to butcher my frame because it was fresh from the powder coaters but after doing this swap i have decided that i will chop it up if i have to.Its a 86 quad frame for crying out loud not a 62 corvette stingray:D

with all do respect. put the 250r motor in the 250r frame and vice versa.
