JUST GOT MY BRAND NEW $50 (ON EBAY) XR200 CARB AND YES IT FIT PERFECTLY ON INTAKE AND ON THE FILTER SIDE ALSO ,BUT YOU HAVE TO REALLY PUSH A BIT! THE CHOKE BRACKET SWAPS OVER PERFECTLY.NOTICE THAT SOME XR200 MODELS ACTUALLY HAVE THE BRACKET FROM FACTORY!(ON EBAY)THE ONLY THING THAT DOES NOT FIT RIGHT UP IS THE THROTTLE CABLE. THE XR CARB HAS A BIGGER PISTON AND THE 250EX CAP WONT COME OFF THE STOCK CABLE SO I PLAN ON GETTING A NEW CABLE OR MAYBE CONVERT TO TWIST THROTTLE! I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED AS WHAT WORKS, HOPE THIS HELPS SOME OF U 250EX RIDERS!

i hook up the xr carb ,found that it just barely clears the 250ex intake(the xr o-ring gasket is a lot bigger).i went to cyclegear and the manager let me go thur some throttle cables found one that look right but inner cable was too long.dying to hear what it would sound like i open the fuel to the carb(by the way the xr carb fuel inlet is a lot smaller then the ex,just use adapter) and the ex started instanly sounds great with the hmf full pipe, its runs a bit on the fat(rich) side here in tampa (sealevel).will let u know what jet i end up with!will post pics soon. i will try to get the right cable tomorrow. will keep u posted

I am putting a carb from a crf150f on my wife's recon. Everything bolts up great except for the throttle cable. The top of the crf carb is 30mm across. Please let me know what you use for a cable. Thanks.

OK , i finally got to work on my wifes 06 250ex again, heres a recap i bought a xr200 carb from ebay($50) took the choke bracket off the ex carb and installed on xr, fit perfect. installed xr carb on 250 with no problem!then i found that i could not use the 250 throttle cable on xr carb. cap was to small to use on xr. so as i mention before i went to cyclegear and found a motion pro cable the part number u will see on one of the pic. this outer cable was right size but the inner cable was too long, found that u can unsolder the piston side of the cable, cut the cable then resolder end back on cable.i was able to use the stock air box along with the kn filter for 250ex .u can see in one of the pic the fuel hose adapter i made,i put a small section of plastic tube inside so it would not flatten smaller fuel line!i then put on a fresh plug(original was 1yr 8 month old).i am using a hmf full pipe system .found the carb ran to low on idle so adjusted up.next found that it would bog down if i would hit throttle hard.finally after three changes, found that the clip on the fifth slot(down) work best(tampa is sealevel)i think the original jet is a 110 plan to change to 115 or 120.i have not ran it on top end,but it lift the wheels by just hardly hitting throttle!think everyone should go for this swap its fairly cheap!found many of these carb still for sale on ebay!

if you put the xr carb on the ex, can you just take the xr cable and twist throttle off the bike too and just use those?

You say you got the carb off ebay.......was it an "aftermarket" brand for an honda xr200 or was it an OEM xr200 carb?

I am in the proccess of doing this upgrade and found that the moition pro cable 02-0472 goes to a Honda CR 125 04-07. I ordered the new carb off ebay for $50. It is an aftermarket. I havent decided where to order the cable from yet but I will do that later today. I need to figure out the jetting on this. It is an 06 bone stock. I am going to put on a Uni filter and keep the stock pipe for now. The recomended jetting in this article is 115-120 but there has been no update to the findings and that was for a full HMF pipe. Anyone else done this swap with any input?

I am in the process of doing it now myself. I have a HMF pipe, No airbox lid, with a uni.

I just ordered more jets, The jets that came with my Dynojet kit for my stock carb work in my new carb. I have a DJ112 main in it right now.

Like i said i order some more 114,116,118,120. It still seems to be running lean in mine with the 112.

I did find (here in Ohio) that i put the Eclip on the 3rd Position. But i am going to Experiment with it in the 4th position as well.

You will have to do some tuning with your fuel screw. Mine was backfiring really bad until i made some adjustments.

I got my carb from www.motopartsmax.com. 27MM

The cable is tricky, i am working with Toby at Motion Pro. He has read this link. His best suggestion is to send him the Carb. and they will make the proper cable.

I cut and re-soldered mine, but it is not perfect yet. I was impatient, and bought one and cut it down too.

I will keep everyone posted.

I just recieved the carb today in the mail and it comes with a 108 main so I will be picking up a handful of jets to get this thing dialed in. I just finished up the widening and shock conversion with the banshee front shock in the rear and this thing handles like a dream for my son. I am very impressed with the way this thing rides. Now to smooth out the motor:blah:

ok a little update. so far I havent put the carb on yet but I just got my cable in the mail yesterday. The carb I got was off ebay. It is a Jin Han carb which is a keihin nock off. I paid 60 bucks delivered for the carb. It has a 108 mainjet. My quad is bone stock so the begining point will be the 108 main. I did a good amount of reaserch before I figured what style jets come in these carbs. I used a micrometer and found that these are small round Keihin jets. I found a website jetsrus.com and they have some good info and prices. they have a complete size conversion chart for different jets that will be helpful.
I am going to install the carb and modify the cable now. It is raining here now so not sure if I can get out to ride but I will post updates.

ok the carb is on and runs nice. The fuel line on the carb is 3/16, and the line from the tank is about 1/4 so plan for that you will need to make up an adapter for the line as stated earilier in the post. I put the needle clip on the 4th slot up and ran the 108 main that came with the carb. The idle did need to be adjusted up some. the motor seems to breath much better but it seems flat when I jab the throttle. Ill post up some more info as I dial it in better and do some more mods.

oh forgot to mention that I do not like the throttle cable that I modified and might work with motion pro to make a better cable when I get some time.

ok so i am currently doing this carb swap to my quad. i got a xr200 carb off of ebay.a xr 200 throttle cable off of ebay (which you can make work with the thumb throttle on the 250ex you just have to shorten the cable a little bit, but the adjuster threads are the same so it screws right in.) I also ordered a xr 200 twist throttle. i put the carb on the quad and ran the throttle cable. now i need to make the fuel line adapter and get the twist throttle which is still being shipped. i will post some pics of this swap.

You can use a cable that fits a Yamaha Bear Tracker. It will screw in a the top of the cap at the cable adjuster. We did the same mod to my wifes quad. We also put a race cam from Webb Cams in it. Also put a Powroll piston with a high lift rocker on the intake.

Hey when doing this carb swap do we want the 27mm or 30mm carb?
