i'm not exactly sure but you'll need to take "more" measurements at the lower end of the shock to determine if it will mate the the geometry of the 250R dogbone assembly.

if it wont then you could possibly look into changing out the shock ends, putting a 250R shock end on a 450R shock. i've done this in order to put a 250R shock on a 400ex b4.

the 450r ressie is right where the carb boot is on the 250

it looks like if you flip the shock the ressy wont be an issue.

if it bolts up how do you think it will ride considering it a 1/4" shorter.

if i got time tomorow i will put one on my 250R. to see if it will fit

ok here is what i came up with. i didn't get it on only because my 250r is in the attic of my shed and i was limited to space, and tools.

i did however take a little measurement (with a screw driver) and it seems that the forks on the bottom of the shock are probably an 1/8 to a 1/4 inch to close. i do think the shock will have no problems with clearing the intake if you flip it around.

maybe sunday after i get done riding i might pull it down.

just a quick eyeball on my part but looks like it'll hit the pipe if it's turned around...

...or how about PEP ZPS front and rear shocks off of an 86 R onto a new 450R????

I did it to my first R or i should say tried to if you try and mount it correctly the ressie hits the top shock mount. So that way didnt work but just sitting it that way the rear end sat about 3 inches lower. Then i tried to mount it upside down and the shock didnt like that. I got stiffer the longer it sat upside down.

Did the reservior clear the exhaust and airbox boot?

It cleared the exhaust and I had an esr airbox eliminator on it. I think it would hit the airbox.
