Do I have to mod my airbox at all to get a Uni filter to fit?
I think I might have to cut off the tabs on the bottom of the airbox, is this true?

You are right. You will have to remove the stock filter support tab at the bottom of the air box. It will snap off with a pair of pliers. I used a dremel tool to clean it up afterwards.

A UNI will fit in there, but those tabs should be removed. The last thing you want is the tabs cutting a hole in the filter over time. If you don't want to cut the tabs off then I'd recomend rigging some sort of pad between the tabs and the filter.
Some filters for certain applications have a little pad built into them where there's no way to avoid having the fliter rub on something.
