can someone tell me what the point of nerf bars are? what do they do?

their real purpose is to keep another quads wheels from going in between your front and rear tires cuz that can cause a nasty accident. their secondary purpose is to save your feet if they slip off the peg.

the number one reason is too keep other 4wheelrs from hittin ur legs and gettin tangled up in ur quad

Yes, they do protect your legs. I hit my friend (AC 400 ex 02) while riding pretty hard and the nerf bar saved his leg. If it wasn't for the nerfs he would have broken his leg.

to save your legs, and if you jump and your foot slips off the peg, the nerd will save it fromt smashing into the ground and possibly your rear tire running it over.

GT300, if you didnt hit him it would have mattered, Just playin!:D I would suggest to anyone get them if you even worry about your legs/feet at all!

I am so glad I have nerfs. There have been plenty of times when I jump and do a trick without getting my feet back on the pegs and the nerfs catch them. I think they are a very important safety item to have. One of the first things I ever got.

also I like them because if my foot does slip off then that means I don't have to let off the throttle to get it back on when its resting in the net or on the kick up. I love nerfs.

We X/C guys use them alot to get around trees faster. They keep the rear tire from hooking on trees

well #1 from protecting your legs from accidents #2 from the foopegs from stabbing you if you roll #3 to look cool and have something to put your feet on
