View Full Version : Synthetic oil in ATVS without a clutch?

I have a Bear tracker Yamaha 250cc that shifts with the foot gear shifter { 5 speed} but theres no clutch. Can synthetic be used in this bike and does it have to be special synthetic oil ?

The answer to your question is Yes and No. Simple, right?


You DO have a clutch, it's just an auto-clutch. It engages by itself. But it can still be damaged by friction modifiers that are in synthetic oils.

However, any "motorcycle-specific" oil can be used in your ATV. There are many synthetic oils that are safe for your clutch. They generally cost more than automobile-oils, but the cost of ANY synthetic oil is going to be high, right?

Any synthetic motorcycle oil is safe for your ATV, provided you get the right viscosity.
