Brake Light?

I took off my brake light the other day to paint the rear grab bar a texturesd black and i went to screw the nut back onto the back of the light by the brackets and I brroke the threads off. I went to see if the dealer had any of the little threaded plugs and they say I have to buy a new 80 dollar brake light. Is there anyone who has any fixes for this or is there something other way I can go? I am going riding this weekend and it might be a little wet so if I were to just wrap the wire in a plastic bag and tape the end would it be ok.

The first link isn't working. The second one is a tail light, not a brake light.

I think '05 and up has a brake light on it. I know '06 and up does.
