With no rider mounted I have the normal amount of chain slack, but with rider mounted and shock compressed the chain goes tight. If I adjust the chain to have slack with rider mounted, there too much slack without the rider. Could the GT Thunder link be causing this? Do I need to put the stock link back on?

isnt your chain supposed to go tight when you sit on it?

It was set up for this quad when it was a 400 EX, but now it has the 450 motor in it. I sat on another 400 EX today with modified stock suspension and stock link and it maintained slack when I sat on it.
your chain should be adjusted with rider weight on it...
