hi, im about 3-4 weeks to trading my 450R for an ltr or a raptor 700 (i think yamahas blow but the 700 does have efi) but as for the ltr part, can someone whos done the same trade kinda compare the two for me? like are the 1st gears anything alike? is the estart or efi faulty? you know, stuff like that.

(p.s. ive had this exact post on the ltr section for a week or so, but either the folks there took offense to this post or nobody there has owned both, anyway i didnt get any responses so info would be appreciated)

well i mostly ride trails with occasional friend drag races (which is pretty obvious for the 1st gear question and the efi question for different altitudes and stuff) and im pushin for a family get away to some sand dunes somewhere this summer.

judging by where you live and te riding you do, the raptor is a better choice

I have 2 450r's and 1 LTR. Love the ltr handles awsome for a stock bike. It doesn't have the same power tho.

procircuit, i dont think ive been to windrock, we do alot iof our ridin round exit 141 in them parts.

czrider, if you dont mind me asking, hows the estart so far? and how do them 1st gears compare?

idk about the first gears...but from what ive heard the raptor will have a higher first gear and win in a drag race, plus itll be way better for the trails.besides that i pick the ltr,either one is a good choice:chinese:

The e start on the 450r is not very good but the one on the LTR hasn't givin me trouble. In defense of the 450r it has 14.1 compression. While the LTR is stock. The LTR has ran real strong and hasn't givin me any trouble. Always starts right up. If i bought my quads again i would prob buy another LTR.

As 1st gears go the ltr was shorter and the 450r was longer. I think that was to make up for the low bottom end power.

keep the honda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my buddy has raced a ltr450, and raptor 700s several times with his 04 450
all it has is hrc kit and sparks pipe and he spankes them every time.
honda reliability!!!!!! that says it all.

just remember that a LOT of it is the rider, not the quad. but yes, the quad does contribute. Now that i have my LTR, I wouldnt ever trade it for anything!

OH TRUST ME I'AM NOT BASHING THE LTR.
IT IS A VERY WELL BUILT MACHINE
I THINK IT PERFORMS VERY WELL STARTS GOOD, AND THE GUYS I HAVE TALKED TO HAVE HAD NOT 1 PROBLEM WITH THERE LTR450.
AND I WOULD LOVE TO RIDE ONE.!!!!!!

oh yea i got ya, just like i have seen a stock z400 spank a hot banshee befor.
you can have 80hp, and if you dont know how to use it you will loose every time

my cuz has a 450r with a hrc kit and it blows the crap outta anything that a 4stroke unless its gotta lotta work done.no offense but if you have a hrc kit i would imagine you would win:ermm: that doesnt say a whole lot about the bike without motor work

Are you talking about coaltown and the powerlines?If so i ride at the same place.

well im not so good with name places but there are powerlines on these steep slopes (or you can take the road) and it'll eventually lead you to this rock where you can overlook most of jackboro. (ive started a small trend of naming it walmart rock) :D

Yea thats by coaltown and thats the rock your talking about.Coaltown is the big parking lot past those companies.Do you live in jacksboro?JW because i live in jacksboro and ride at the same place.

yeah we go there alot of the time except we always start out at ivy dell (not sure on spelling) and take that trail by that water place then at the end of it take that long scenic trail toward 141, ive heard that you could park somewhere in jackboro and ride there quicker but i dont know where that is.

If you stay on that gravel road and pass up the rock it takes you to the bottom of the mountain where you can unload at.

The LTR's also have a sweet suspension. A little tuning and u can really push them hard!:D :devil: :macho

im about 2 weeks away:D , i think ill push for a white one, and hondariders right every yam. ive had i got problems to follow up see in my way of thinking is that efi is the future so ill get a quad that has it now so ill already have it when peoples rushing to get it and all that leaves is the raptor700 (see above), the ltr (see above), or the kawi but when i look at kawi vs. zuke i just cant help but think the suzuki will just be overall better in the long run.

*UPDATE*

i went to a dealer today and got some numbers and it turns out i could get a kfx 450 for around $250 more and im now waging what the pros and cons may be between the two.
