I just started chewing tabacco last friday to get away from cigarettes for a while. On my front bottom lip there is like a white line that is a bump about an inch long. It hurts and stings when something touches it (tabacco). I've stopped putting the dip there for about three days now. I know I have to quit the dip. But could anyone help me out? I don't know what it is or anything. Could I get cancer from chewing for a few days? Is it just a blister?

Any respones that have to deal with my question would help greatly. Its really scaring me.

it'll go away pretty quick. chew sunflower seeds, smoke (not #1 choice), or chew a chitload of gum.

well if you think little white bumps in your mouth is normal, than yes. its not normal but extremely common. 90% of my friends dip and about half of them have gotten the bump things.

yeah. i know a kid whose been chewing for two years, two or three cans a week and he got it last year. he quit chewing for a month and smoked and it went away, but his was real bad. then alot of kids get it when they first start. the pain and sting will go away soon, the mark takes a week or two after that.

I have chewed for about 15 years now and from my experience when i slow down and don't chew much (like in the summer when it is really hot) then one day chew alot my mouth gets raw and white. but when i slowy work my way up to it it is fine. i think it is mostly an irritation from your lip not being use to it. Oviously it is a sign it shouldn't be in there, but like i said 15 years and still going strong. And my mother is a dentist and checks them about every 6 months for cancer signs and she hasn't found any yet...knock on wood. I know its bad but i think i do it out of bordom than anything. So my answer and this is just my opion , it will go away if you quit.

Its there cuz the tabacoo cuts your lips thats why some of them have fiberglass in them so it cuts them good, then it gets in your blood and stuff and gives you a buzz.

My advice, quit everything and just chew Winterfresh. :D

its a scar and cuts.... it will go away

Its bizarre how many people who chew don't know they put small amounts of fiberglass in to cut your gum and lips do you can intake the stuff into your blood

to quit smoking, you truly have to make up your mind and do it..

i smoked for about 20yrs(until the day before my 36th b-day) and then i decided i wasnt going to spend the second half of my life hacking and wheezing..

i put down the pack of smokes(that only had about 4 cig's gone) and they laid there for weeks until i gave them to my wife(who still smokes..:ermm: )

i took the money i saved(365 * $4) and bought an EX.. now i get to see the danger coming..:blah:

Oh yeah, don't let anyone tell you smoking is better. They both will give you cancer but at least with chew you can see the cancer!

IMO chewing is about as disgusting of a habit as not showering for a month, lol. Absolutely nothing good comes from it.

I'd chew gum till you quit.

But if the buzz is worth it......

He was 13 when he tried spit tobacco (dip) on a camping trip with friends. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a one-time deal. Gruen ended up with a powerful addiction that changed his life forever. Just four years later, at the age of 17, he was diagnosed with oral cancer. To fight it, he’s been forced to endure 35 painful surgeries, including one radical surgery that removed half of his neck muscles and much of his tongue.
