got my QU4D mag today and....

theyve all but confirmed an '08 suzuki lt250R, can i get some early predictions? im thinkin that either it can be 450 competitive because im assuming it may be nearly weightless and fast, but theres a part of me that thinks itll be a 300ex alternative but with cooler plastic.

any thoughts?

I think if all the mfg's would do this (take their 250F motors and put in quads) it would create a new class for the younger riders and would generate more interest in the sport.

Similar to the AMA, a 450 class and a 250 class. Great idea. This quad would replace the blaster's and 300's. A good machine for your wife or girlfriend also.

They dont have to do anything. Their bikes are still winning races everyday.

I see at as the other oem's trying to beat honda with all this fancy stuff but when it comes down to it they still dont have a superior product.

EFI? If its such a selling point why was team suzuki running carbs last season?

Its the wave of the future but it is not the superior product right now.

The problem with EFI is that there aren't enough smart owners out there yet that have the tools/capability/know how to work on them and tune them correctly.

I feel that, when properly tuned, an EFI setup is superior to a carb. The problem is that there isn't enough knowledge out there yet for your average joe mechanic to be able to effectively dial in his setup. With EFI the possibilities are pretty much endless.

Back to the subject at hand, I voiced my thoughts earlier in the thread and will now address the Honda being superior comments. In some aspects YES, Honda is superior. Overall, I think that the "big Four" are pretty much all on a level playing field right now. It's a cat and mouse game really. One mfg. comes out with something then another does it one better. Regardless of who makes the machines or what brand you are loyal to, it's all good for the sport of ATVing, and you and me the consumers.

I would assume that since there is going to be and AMA semi pro 250 class next year, somebody would have to build a 250cc race quad.

Yeah I agree. That thing looks sweet! It will deffinately be very popular as you dont have to do too much to make them competitive in mx (like the ltr's). I think we'll be seeing a lot of these in the future...

I was talkin about the 08 Suzuki LT250R. I'm not sure if it is an actual picture, or if it is just one of those ones that they photoshop and predict what it will look like. It's set up exactly like the ltr in the pic, it has the center exhaust and everything. I will scan a picture probably tomorrow (unless somebody else get to it before me lol). I don't have my magazine with me..my friend has it. But yeah I'll prolly get the pic they have of it scanned tomorrow :cool:

the rmz 250 and other dirtbike motors are just as powerful if not more than are stock 450s i wouldnt think there slow unless they put some trailbike motor in it

Hell I would even trade my YFZ450 for a 250F quad:chinese: (If the 250 uses the same engine at the 250F dirtbike engines)

This sport has a huge calling for a 250f race quad. Things are going to get good once all of the big 4 have one out. Wouldn't be surprised if Yamaha, as well as suzuki doesn't have a 250f quad for 08'.

Sorry, but he has plenty of reason to be concerned. Regardless of his good performance mods (HMF pipe and Uni Filter) and good handling mods (Elka's w/ res.), NO 250EX will hang with these things. The 250EX motor is your basic, old-school, reliable Honda design. These new 250F motors are the complete opposite. I believe the 250F's are making more HP/cc than the 450's are. They are wicked fast.

The 250EX chassis isn't designed to be a MX'er. It's designed as an entry level trail machine. Again, the looks of this machine is the complete opposite-racing chassis, wide, etc.

m.h.s.c.#527, please don't take these comments as a slam towards your machine-you have one kick arse 250EX-just trying to clear up your justifiable reason for concern to 05Z400rdr
