I have about 2 hours on my new LTR450 and planning on doing my first oil change. So a bit soon but a friend wait the full 10 hours and said there was a lot of crap in the oil and wished he would have changed after 2 or 3 hours.

So I have decided to change now. I have some questions.

1) Should I switch to synthetic now or wait a little longer?

2) Which brand of synthetic is best?

3) Which brand of NON synthetic is best?

4) Which oil filter is best?

Many thanx in advance

1) I would wait longer to give the rings time to seat

2) Alot of people like amosol (hope i spelled it right)

3) I use spectro in my 400 with no problems but its all personal preference, as long as its made for bikes.

4) OEM

I would also give the rings longer time to seat and ask your dealer what kind of oil runs best in the bike and they will prob. suggest oem.

Also i would just go with regular oil because unless you plan on riding heavily without changing the oil you wont gain anything from using a synthetic.
