when ever i give open the throttle all the way and let go it backfires. The bike is all stock right now so it doesn't need jets. There isn't an exhaust leak. It will pop also when i rev it up at an idle. Whats wrong?

Sound like lean pop. From your profile it looks like you are letting in more air with the K&N. That can be the cause.

Is your filter dirty? I could be that.

i need to find the stock setting for a 300ex carb. Is two and a half turns out when the flat head indent is parallel with the bike or when it is going sideways. I dont have the proper tool to seat it in all the way and turn it out, so i have to wedge a flated in. I don't make to make the bike overly rich or way lean.Any help is greatly appriciated!Also, I had the choke on low for about 10min on accident then i turned it off. Would this cause the popping.

it most likely is the air mixture screw which i think is at the botton fo the carb towards the engine. look in the manual to see where it is. look at the factory specs and set it to them, if it still pops than play around with it.;)
