I think I have a seal that went out in my stock 88 trx 250r's front shock. Are these shocks rebuildable?

I'm pretty sure the fronts aren't rebuildable.. The rear is though. It would be cheaper for you to just replace them with a set off of a 400ex. They can be purchased from ebay for around $50 give or take for a set.

They may not be the same shock. I don't know but I can guarantee it will bolt right up to a 250R with zero mods done to the shocks or your bike.

how about 450r shocks would those be good for a 140lb rider on a 250r. also what about yfz shocks

The 450r shocks will work but they are valved wrong for the 250r. To get the best out of them they would need to be revalved. If you do a search on the forums I'm sure you'll get some info on it. Or someone may post some. You may be better off getting some works shocks.

450r shocks will bolt up, but they will ride REAL stiff. 450r a-arms are wider, due to having a narrower frame. This = more leverage. On a 250r/400ex the leverage ratio is differernt. Even stock 450r shocks adjusted soft is still real stiff. The only real way to run 450r shocks is to have them revalved and resprung for your weight and riding style. Just tell what company you have convert them and they can set them up for 250r/400ex. I run 450r shocks that are set up for me (XC 200#) and they work great.

The lesson from this post, which is dead on accurate. Is that after all that you could get a set of works shocks for the same price or cheaper. I don't know if they perform as good as the 450's that have been reworked or not though. I'm sure someone can comment on that though.
